Poets of the Fall – Crystalline
Do you remember that on my last post I wrote that I’d run a little experiment. After a full week, I can say that the results are inconclusive but at the same time, confirmed a few things. This post might be considered as an extension of the said experiment, at least in part. Furthermore, it might well be the last post of the year, but you never know, my fingers might get itchy during the Christmas break. Anyway, I recall reading a review about Clearview where the writer was very enthusiastic about the album but kind of shot Crystalline dead, saying that it was probably the worst song the band…
POTF – Tony saga continues
What is it that one usually says about half promises made with a grin in one’s eyes? Well, I do not know for I made that up, but since I nonetheless made such a promise, here I am again keeping it. For the record, I’ve never written so much about one single song before, but at least I can safely say that I now know the lyrics by heart and am able to sing along with Marko as I drive to and from work… and NO, you may not hear me sing. Poets of the Fall – The Child in Me
Last week, I promised I’d come with a new post about Poets of the Fall‘s song The Child in Me. What I have been wondering since is if it is another coming of age song like Once Upon a Playground Rainy. It would seem that the song title is rather self-explanatory which means not too much digging, at least at first glance. But, it is somewhat a Smoke and Mirrors meet Rewind kind of feeling – lyric-wise. Anyway, go figure why this particular track made me happy as I drove home last week… the lyrics are not particularly cheerful so why? I think that it might have something to do with, first and foremost, the intro……
POTF – Who the fuck is Tony???
Today is November 30th and it would seem that I lost two Facebook followers in the course of the month. OMG! OMG! OMG! What should I do? Why did this happen? How can I get them back? Blah, blah, blah… Well, I am not the one asking that, in case you were wondering… I am no genius when it comes to marketing my own writing since I write for the sake of it, mostly. You could argue that I am bitter since I am starting the post with a fact which, in truth, I don’t give a *beep* about. So, what is today’s post about? Poets of the Fall, who else… and…
Never lose track of the essential
Lately – read the past eight months or so – I have been writing mostly about Poets of the Fall and it is as it should be since they do make me happy, and writing about their music is more therapeutic than talking about myself to a wall. Don’t worry, I am not experiencing such a dreadful thing – it is just an image, my therapist is amazing. Anyway, it has been two days that every time I drive home from work, my thoughts are in disarray and both times, I have had this ranting post writing itself in my head, but when I am finally home I have neither the energy or the…
Poets of the Fall – Love never goes out of season
Yesterday, as I was driving home from work (finally week-end!) Poets of the Fall were as usual playing in my car’s speakers, smoothing out my otherwise bad mood while I was struggling not to yell at the snail-ish driver in front of me… I am French, yes, and French people are yelling in their cars, it might classify me as a crazy person here in Sweden though. I don’t know how it is in your country, but the French tradition is one of “yellers“. Anyway, I was listening to Clearview and a song caught my attention although I’ve heard it a gazillion times before: Children of the Sun. Similar messages And you know you…
