Poets of the Fall – Echoes of the Carnival – 20 Years, Carnival of Rust
Carnival of Rust is to me what Late Goodbye is to the majority of Poets of the Fall‘s fans: an absolute and undeniable classic. My eyes discovered the incredible creativity of the band before my ears could understand what they were listening to. Since then, I never looked back, despite the doubts and mood swings throwing unapologetic punches at my heart through the years. Carnival of Rust is the song that started it all for me, or rather rekindled a flame I did not know was burning out and, I could never express well enough how grateful I am to Poets of the Fall. Echoes of the Carnival Oddly enough,…
Poets of the Fall – Echoes of the Carnival, Anniversary Tour 2026, Interview
Following the announcement of Echoes of the Carnival Anniversary Tour 2026, and in anticipation of a certain singer’s birthday on December 5th, Misfit Heart had to pop her head out into the world again 🥰 and welcome Poets of the Fall back to Center Stage. Hi Marko, Long time no see!!! 😍 [Marko] Hi Claire, good to hear from you, hope you are doing well. [Claire] I am doing very well thank you for asking 😅. Happy Birthday Marko 🎂 As is tradition on Misfit Heart (although not really followed for the past 2 years) this interview was really meant to be published today on your birthday 🥳 therefore, Happy…
Ghostlight, interview with Marko Saaresto
Today I feel blessed and incredibly lucky, because today I had the honor of getting an interview with Marko Saaresto, the gifted singer and lyricist of the fabulous Finnish rock band Poets of the Fall. He took some time, in his busy schedule, to answer my spur of the moment questions. Like many of you, I have – this past week – lived vicariously through the live photos and short videos our friends posted on social media from the gigs in Germany and Prague. I have avidly read over and over Marko‘s Tour diaries and marveled at how his mind works. It takes one to know one, I suppose… not…
Poets of the Fall – Pumpehuset, Copenhagen September 6th, 2022
Beautiful, beautiful Copenhagen… isn’t it how the saying goes? Whether it is or not, Copenhagen is absolutely stunning ❤️. A few days before Poets of the Fall’s gig at Pumpehuset, I visited a little and I was blown away. The serenity I felt in this city filled me with joy. My friend Ana was not only the best company, but also the best guide 🥰. I’ll spare you the details of my visit, but suffice it to say that I went on a boat tour, saw the Tivoli by day and almost night and wandered the streets a bit. The day of the gig, we went on a nice walk…
Larry Sandman – A conversation with the sandman himself
Today is a very special day, because today we had a long interesting and fun conversation with the amazing Larry Sandman. Larry Sandman, the creative mind behind the gorgeous single “Upside Down”, released June 3rd this year. Larry, the man who knows how to surround himself with like-minded artists to produce beautiful songs, rock and classy with a dash of “je n’sais quoi” that makes all the difference. Before we start, go pre-order Larry Sandman’s debut album on iTunes More Than Free to be released June 21st 2022. Origins: in a few words, who is Larry Sandman? [Larry] First of all Claire, let me say thanks. I appreciate you…
Poets of the Fall, Ghostlight – seitsemän, Firedancer
Firedancer is the brilliant opening to Ghostlight, Poets of the Fall 9th studio album which was released on April 29th. The song is musically and lyrically stunning, from the intro’s spoken words to the very last notes easing the listener smoothly into the next track -Requiem for my Harlequin. As always, the lyrics can and should be understood in our own way. No right or wrong, just Marko’s red thread showing a glimmer of what could be his meaning. Like he said in his interview on Radio Rock (Finland, 02/04/2022): “My lyrics are meta-level lyrics so the listeners can understand them in their own way. There’s an idea in the…
