Black Waters is the song I did not know I needed, soothing like a calming balm on my restless soul. The thirteenth symphony of Carnival of Rust grew patiently so that it could become this fine golden thread wrapping Poets of the Fall trilogy of trilogies. Yet, according to Marko (24.04.2026 on Finnish television) lyrics and melody have not changed much since the birth of Black Waters. Poets of the Fall – Echoes of the Carnival – 20 Years, Carnival of Rust
Carnival of Rust is to me what Late Goodbye is to the majority of Poets of the Fall‘s fans: an absolute and undeniable classic. My eyes discovered the incredible creativity of the band before my ears could understand what they were listening to. Since then, I never looked back, despite the doubts and mood swings throwing unapologetic punches at my heart through the years. Carnival of Rust is the song that started it all for me, or rather rekindled a flame I did not know was burning out and, I could never express well enough how grateful I am to Poets of the Fall.
